Heart Sutra

The Heart Sutra, Sanskrit Prajnaparamitahridaya-sutra (“Discourse on the Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom”), in Mahayana Buddhism, an extremely brief yet highly influential distillation of the essence of (“Perfection of Wisdom”) writings. Although the sutra primarily consists of a dialogue between Shariputra and the great bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, their words are inspired by the blessings of the Buddha, who remains absorbed in samadhi meditation until the end of the discussion. As with all the prajñaparamita sutras, the teaching took place at Vulture's Peak near Rajagriha.

Kyabjé Khen Rinpoche Tashi Palden received a wealth of teachings and transmissions from Sötrul Rinpoche, the abbot of Kyabjé monastery in Tibet, and later on from the 11th Situ Rinpoche, the 16th Karmapa, and Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö Rinpoche among many others.

Kyabjé Khenpo received the transmission for the Uttaratantra Shastra directly from Kyabjé Sotrül Rinpoche, whose three gurus were Jamgön Dorje Chang Pema Wangchok (the 11th Situ Rinpoche), Khentrül Dorje Chang Chökyi Lodrö (Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö) and Khenchen Dorje Chang Tashi Özer.

Khenpo met Kyabjé Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and spent several years with him at his hermitage, Nagi Gompa. In Nepal he also met and received teachings and transmissions from Kyabjé Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Kyabjé Kalu Rinpoche, and the 12th Situ Rinpoche.

The teachings with Kyabjé Khenpo will take place each day at 11am CET for approximately one and a half hours. Translation will be offered in English and in case of interest, we are considering translation also in Spanish, French and Chinese. More information will follow.

We are thrilled to announce that Khenpo-la exceptionally agreed that the seminar will also be live streamed via Zoom. Recordings of the teachings will be accessible until one week after the seminars. We are delighted that this will allow participants across the globe to watch these precious teachings and take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity. Registration details for online participation will follow in the first half of July.

Participants are expected to commit to attending the seminar entirely and to prepare for each session by viewing the previous teaching either live or the recording. Please respect Kyabjé Khenpo’s wishes on this important attendance requirement.
