Located in the mountains of Pyrénées Orientales, Gomde Pyrénées is a centre, founded by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, in the lineage of the Chokling Tersar, a collection of teachings revealed by the 19th century master Chokgyur Lingpa.
The centre offers a complete Buddhist path as found in the teaching of the Buddha, the Mahayana teachings on emptiness and compassion, and the profound instructions of the Vajrayana.
Most importantly, Gomde Pyrénées is being established as an international long and short term retreat centre for practitioners from around the world.
The location of Gomde Pyrénées is remote and yet easily accessible, and it offers silence and natural beauty ideal for long term retreats.
The sacred Mountain of Canigou is a near neighbour, a mountain steeped in mystery and legend as it overlooks the greater Roussillon plain and the not so distant Mediterranean sea.
Gomde is changing daily and transforming itself into a retreat centre that can welcome practitioners from around the world for individual short and long term retreats in a supportive community dedicated to Buddhist practice.
Volunteers are creating gardens to grow food, carpenters and electricians are rebuilding basic services that will allow the centre to become self-sufficient.
You are welcome to join us and become a part of our thriving community.
This is your home. We look forward to welcoming you!
“I have sincere aspirations that in the future the Gomde centres will become great places for dharma practice that will give birth to countless learned and accomplished beings.”
