Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche at Gomde Pyrénées: September 18-22nd, 2022

We are delighted to announce that Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche will return to our beautiful and secluded mountain retreat center in the French Pyrénées-Orientales this September.

Rinpoche will visit on the very auspicious occasion of the formal beginning of the first Three-Year Retreat. Rinpoche will be sharing profound teachings, wisdom, and heart advice with the first group of retreatants.  He will also be bestowing the empowerments required for the three-year practices and will be sharing pith instructions and advice on the retreat.

In addition, we can joyfully announce that Rinpoche will offer teachings to the public from September 18th to 21st. During this time Rinpoche will also bestow the Outer, Inner, and Secret Tara empowerments. Prerequisites for taking the Tara empowerments are having taken refuge and a sincere interest in practicing Tara. For the Secret Empowerment, Rinpoche requests that those attending commit to the daily practice of the Third Excellence in the Tara Triple Excellence program. Moreover, Rinpoche will give commentary on His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche Jikdral Yeshe Dorje’s pithy text, Advice for Mountain Retreat. As the title implies, these teachings are direct and profound instructions addressed to those who wish to put them into practice by entering into retreat. We encourage all those who are committed to intensive practice to join us in receiving these teachings that “extract the essence of accomplishment” and connect us to our innate Buddha nature. The prerequisites for attendance are having taken refuge, previous Buddhist practice, and a genuine intention to apply the instructions received in retreat.

Finally,  September 22nd, we invite you to join us as we take part in the sealing of the three-year retreat. Rinpoche will be departing from Gomde on September 23 to return to Nepal.

Rinpoche’s authentic approach to teaching the dharma embodies clarity, unobstructed compassion, and gentle humor. Rinpoche will share profound instructions that guide one towards an awakening of inner freedom, allowing us to connect with an experience of realized, embodied wakefulness.

Our teachers

Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist master, who has taught meditation and Buddhist philosophy all over the world for more than four decades. Rinpoche has established meditation centers in many countries and published numerous books on meditation.

​

Lama Tenzin Sangpo teaches meditation around the world in Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche’s dharma centers. Before he began his teaching tours, Lama Tenzin was the chant leader and one of the most senior monks in the Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling monastery in Nepal. Lama has completed the traditional three-year retreat at Asura Cave, and he will lead the traditional three-year retreat here at Gomde.

Important Note Regarding Registration:

The retreat will open for registration on July 1, 2022. We will be using BilletWeb, as usual to reserve spaces and we will provide that link on July 1. We regret that we can not take any advance bookings as we will be working very diligently to prepare for the 3-year retreat. We will make any additional announcements on our website, our Facebook page, and via an email to our list.

Accommodation and Meals

Due to the larger number of participants only shared accommodation can be booked at Gomde's main house or at gites in the village. The rooms are quite simple, but comfortable and clean. Pillows and blankets will be provided. If you plan to attend, please make sure to register as soon as we open on July 1, since there are only a limited amount of beds available.

It is also possible for us to reserve shared accommodation in gites for you at the very charming village of La Bastide situated 2 km away from Gomde Pyrenees. If needed we will help you to arrange a daily lift with other participants from the village at the beginning of the seminar.

​

You may also wish to camp on our beautiful grounds. Gomde has a limited number of tents available on a first-come-first-served basis. You are welcome to bring your own tent as well.

​

We will serve three vegetarian meals daily and will also offer an afternoon tea break. A cook will spoil us with simple, delicious vegetarian food. Due to the anticipated large crowds, we regret that we can not prepare any special requests. If you have any food allergies, please be aware that we do not have the facilities to store or cook special foods.

​

Cook and Retreat helpers needed

We are looking for a cook and cooks’ assistant as well as a couple of extra retreat helpers in order for this retreat to run smoothly.
